Unleash Power For The People
Foundation
Comment from supporter Mr.A
President John Kennedy said “It’s
better to light a candle than to curse
the darkness.” This is precisely the
reason I was drawn to “Unleash Power
for the People.” The organization does
just that---it tries to solve the problems
of some of our planet’s poorest
inhabitants with solutions on a very
personal level. Rather than pour
money into grandiose schemes, it
seeks to help improve the lives of small
groups of people by supplying them
with free electricity supplied through
solar power. Light for a small school.
Power for a modest generator. Electric
pumps to provide water. All using free,
renewable power, from an organization
which uses ALL its resources to meet
these ends. (All administrative costs
are covered by interest income.)
Helping a small group here, then one
there, then one somewhere else---
drops that fill the bucket. I like the
approach.
On my way to visit our first community!
I am heading off to visit Benquet, Philippines at the end of this week
and wanted to give everyone an update as to what is going on with
Unleash Power For The People Foundation.
Benquet school gets energy from the sun!
First and best, we are almost finished with all of the details of the
renewable solar power generator for the school in Benquet,
Philippines. We have been working closely with GoGreenSolar.com
and an Unleash Power volunteer from Johnson Controls to make
sure that it meets the power needs of the school, is installed
properly, and makes its way through customs successfully. In
addition, two particular people in the Philippines have been very
helpful in both communicating with the locals and coordinating with
the engineers. If all goes well, they should have it completely
installed in July and have power from the sun for the next 25 to 30
years!
The cost of the system is a little over $15,000 (not including
shipping or installation), so the total project costs should stay within
our $20,000 target. The amount of power that it will supply will be
1.5 Kilowatts, which is enough to power the 6 classrooms.

June Update and Trip to Philippines

Other Developments!
Many other developments have occurred in the first 3 months, in fact too many to list on this update. We
have been gathering much momentum in terms of people paying attention, in fact our facebook fan page
has over 7800 fans. In addition, many have expressed interest in setting up chapters in other countries
such as England, Indonesia, India, Philippines, and Canada. We have been mentioned in web blogs and
news articles, and the web traffic to our sites has been phenomenally consistent. In fact our World Poverty
Day Org group on facebook has over 10,000 members.

Don't forget the message!
To end this update I'd like to re-mention our mission. We have a simple deliverable which is to provide
renewable power generators to poor communities in the world without electricity. By doing this we can
highlight the SOLUTION for both global warming and world poverty eradication. Our method is simple, but
our reach is broad. We are attempting to educate both rich and poor alike about the way forward in the
future.
As any good leader will tell you, "Don't bring me just the problems, bring me the solutions too!"
Money Raising... Not moving fast enough but we'll make it!
We have raised a little over $4000 from the supporters of the
foundation, and with the contributions from the shopping sites,
search sites, and ads from Google we have raised around $4300 in
total. We are still shy around $11,000 to buy the unit, plus we have
to ship and install it.
Because we have made a commitment to this "in-need" community, I
will personally pay the balance of the amount that we are short. I
am thrilled we are delivering this unit to these wonderful children
and I hope that it serves as an understanding of the "good" that this
foundation can do.
Also, I understand that it takes time and patience to wait for people
to embrace the concept, so I'm optimistic that many others will
continue to follow our progress. The hardest part of any charity is
asking people to part with their money, so I want to say "thank you"
to all of you that have taken the opportunity to donate!
With the help of the pictures and videos of the smiles on their faces,
I'm hoping that everyone will get even more excited about future
projects.
My hero: Mr. A (Anonymous)
Ever since the video of the Benquet
children came out, Mr. A has delivered
almost daily to my office a box of items
for the kids of Benquet. Books, socks,
shirts, sunglasses, towels, etc... He's
an amazing man and my hero!
Our first community Benquet
Community Partners is a
farming community located in
the mountains of Benquet,
Philippines. It is 1833 meters
or 6000 feet above sea level
and cold cold cold (watch
