| I have a dream April 13, 2008 By Sally Rogerson In my dream I wake up one morning and find that all my friends who were working in the social justice sector are unemployed. Not, this time, due to funding cuts but because there is no social injustice for them to work on. In my dream governments that have liberally polluted the earth with landmines in the past have taken responsibility for them and have had them disarmed and removed. In my dream the homeless have been re-housed appropriately, with support if required. In my dream there is mental health provision for all those who need it. In my dream asylum seekers are treated with respect and the system to refugee status is fair and simple In my dream every child is a wanted child, and in receipt of an education which equips them to think for themselves and of others, not just a means to pass examinations and be trained to be suitable for a work placement. In my dream poverty and starvation have ceased to exist in any part of the world. In my dream full-time parenting will be seen as a valuable career. In my dream health care will be universal and every treatable disease will be appropriately treated. In my dream prejudice, whether based on age, religion, colour or culture, will no longer exist. In my dream the elderly will be loved, cared for in their infirmity and respected as the wise of our society. In my dream there will be no us and them, just US. One world.
